17 Sep The Best Things to Do in Charleston This Fall
One of THE MOST common questions we get asked by guests: “What are the best things to do in Charleston?”
This is a tough question to answer! With so much history, and the beaches, tours, shopping, and food… oh the food!… it’s hard to narrow down the choices.
Fall is a favorite time to visit Charleston. The weather is still warm enough to enjoy an afternoon at the beach, and the cool evenings are perfect for a stroll, dining al fresco, and enjoying drinks at any of the nearby rooftop bars.
Wondering what to do first? Any which way you walk out of The Charleston Chestnut Mansion, you will discover gorgeous homes like Rainbow Row and those that wrap around Battery Park and White Point Gardens; parks like Waterfront Park and the Pineapple Fountain; shopping at The Charleston City Market to pick up the perfect souvenirs or along King Street to find that something extra special; and world-class dining at restaurants such as High Cotton, SNOB, Ansons, Husk, Hank’s, and Poogan’s Porch.
In just a short drive, you can be to any of the three main beaches — Sullivan’s Island, Isle of Palms, and Folly Beach — or to one of the plantations — Boone Hall, Drayton Hall, Magnolia, and Middleton are our top choices. There are also some hidden gems in the outer reaches of the city that are definitely worth the trip!
To help, US News & World Report recently put together its list of the best of the best in Charleston, and we agree with all their choices. Check out their top picks HERE. What we love most about this list is you can click different options to see what’s free and broken down by 1, 2, and 3-day itineraries. There is something for everyone on this list!
